Bernice Mayweather, age 85, was born June 10, 1932 in Okolona, Mississippi to Ben and Emma Ambrose.
Bernice departed this life on April 24, 2018 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was preceded in death by her husband; Theartha Mayweather, Sr., her parents, her son; Theartha Mayweather, Jr., daughters; Evelyn Mayweather and Dorothy Patterson, brothers; Earsey Ambrose "Buck" and Ben Ambrose, Jr. and sisters; Asea Lee Baines, Jeanette Moore and Mildred Dilworth.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons; Jeffery Mayweather, Roger Mayweather and Floyd Mayweather, Sr., daughters; Anna (Parker) Jacobs, Eloise (Lloydell) Harris and Jackie Mayweather, brothers; Harvey (Sharon) Ambrose and Charles Ambrose, sisters; Emma Jean James, Molly Burns, Willie Harris, Jimmie Dean, Helen Ambrose, Shirley Smith "Temple" and Barbara Zelinski, 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Ivy K. Gillespie Memorial Chapel, 1865 Eastern Ave SE, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 513 Henry St. SE, at 11:00 AM. Friends may meet with the family one hour prior to services at 10:00 AM.
