Lonnie Fields, Jr. was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Inez and Lonnie Fields, Sr. in Perry County, Alabama. He confessed his belief and hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Uniontown, Alabama. He later became a member at Christ Temple Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he was active and served on the Deacon Board.
Lonnie worked for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) where he retired. He also served in the military during the Vietnam War as a Marine Soldier. He received a special medal during his time of service for our Country.
Lonnie Fields, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory 2 children; Angela (Keith) Watts and Lonnie Fields, III both of Grand Rapids, Michigan, 7 stepchildren; Ola and Darnell Perry, Frank Clay, Marilyn Clay, Lawrence and Lelar Clay, James and Janet Morgan, Bernita and Kerry Wright and Desean Fields, 27 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, 3 brothers; Richard Fields of Chicago, Illinois, Jimmie (Melvalynn) Fields and David (Sharon) Fields both of Pontiac, Michigan, 3 sisters; Julia “Pat” Fields and Betty Jones both of Pontiac, Michigan and Martha Bryant of Fairfield, Alabama, 1 sister in-law; Emma Fields of Uniontown, Alabama, 1 brother in-law; Frank James of Grand Rapids, Michigan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Ethel Fields, parents; Lonnie and Inez Fields, 6 brothers; Thomas, Archie, Joe, Leroy, James Ray Fields and Freddie Flanigan, 2 sisters; Henrietta Fikes and Aree Fields and 1 grandchild; Keith L. Watts, Jr.
