Velma Jean Manning, age 69, was born October 15, 1948 to Clevester and Artie Hughes in St. Louis, Misssouri.

Velma departed this life on October 30,2017 in Grand Rapids, MI and was preceded in death by her father; Clevester Hughes, and husband Leon Manning.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother; Artie Smith, sons; Lavelle and Marcus Manning, daughter; Tesha Manning, 1 sister; Latoya George, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Ivy K. Gillespie Memorial Chapel, 1865 Eastern Ave. SE, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, November 10, 2017 at Lamb of God, 57 Rena SW, at 11:00 AM. Friends may meet with the family one hour prior to services at 10:00 AM.
