Allen Russell, age 87, was born July 12, 1930 in West Point, Mississippi to Floyd and Annie Russell.

Allen departed this life on September 27, 2017 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sara Russell and1 son; John Russell.

Allen leaves to cherish his memory his son; Allen F. Russell (Vicky), daughter; Jusselyn Newland (William "Bill'), brother; Howard Russell (Charlene), sister; Sally Gibbons, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Ivy K. Gillespie Memorial Chapel, 1865 Eastern Ave. SE, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2017 at Living Word Christian Center, 1534 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, at 12:00 noon. Friends may meet with the family one hour prior to services at 11:00 AM.
