Obituary for Terrence Travious Hinton

Sgt. Terrence T. Hinton was born on June 17, 1980 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In September of 2009, Sgt. Hinton attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Leonardwood, MO where he became a Wheeled Vehicle Operator. Upon completion of AIT, Sgt. Hinton was assigned to the 549th Brigade, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY where he deployed to Afghanistan in support OEF XI and later deployed to Kuwait in 2014. In 2016 Sgt. Hinton was assigned to A Company, 325th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, HI.

Sgt. Hinton's military education includes Basic Leader's Course, the Joint Medical Planner Course, the HAZMAT Driver's Training Course, the CBRN Responders Course, the Light Wheeled Vehicle Course, the Combat Life Savers Course and Combatives Level I. His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (3rd OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal-Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and the Combat Action Badge.

Sgt. Hinton is survived by his wife Soutsada, daughter; Cayleigh, parents; Ralph Gary and Jessie Hinton and Johnny Mayfield, siblings; Scharmeka Hinton, Ameka Hinton, Devika Hinton, Manika (Eric) Holland, Tomekia Myles, Tomeka Jones, Sheka Jones, Richard Jones, Markis Jones, Brandy Brown, Ronnie Holmes, Raymond Holmes, Ralph Holmes, Demarquis (Autumn) Holmes, Johnny Denson, Terelle Gibbs, Ebony Gibbs, Jeremy Gibbs and Mike Gibbs, and a host of other family and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Ivy K Gillespie Memorial Chapel, 1865 Eastern Ave SE, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Davis Memorial COGIC, 111 Griggs SE, at 11:00 AM. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to services at 10:00 AM.
