Mildred McSwain, age 72, was born July 11, 1944 in Jackson, Tennessee to Willie Gibson and Bessie Gibson.

She departed this life on March 21, 2017 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Solomon McSwain, Sr., 1 son; Fredrick Gibson, 1 daughter; Belinda Gibson, 2 brothers; Willie Gibson, Jr. and Otis Gibson and 1 sister; Katherine Morris.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Solomon McSwain Jr. and Valerie Gibson and 1 brother; Henry Gibson, 2 sisters; Mary Helen Ross and Carrie Martin, 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a host of other family and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Ivy K. Gillespie Memorial Chapel, 1865 Eastern Ave. SE, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Ivy K. Gillespie Memorial Chapel at 12:00 Noon. Friends may meet with the family one hour prior to services at 11:00 AM.
